The Bartholomew Loft was named after George Bartholomew, who is credited with finding new cement for pavement and in 1891 was approved by the Bellefontaine City Council to use his invention for paving a test strip on Main Street outside the Logan County Courthouse, which can be seen from the windows in this loft.
